Teaching Measurement, Transformations and 3D Shapes

Workshop Purpose:

With this workshop, we want to engage with you, our MIP teachers, on a personal and professional level.

  • On a personal level, we will consider the importance of practicing gratitude.
  • For your professional development, this workshop will include:
    • An outline of the revised teaching plans for Mathematics for Term 3 of 2021
    • Guidelines on the teaching of the following 3 Mathematics topics:
  1. Measurement;
  2. Transformations; and
  3. 3D Shapes.

Workshop content:

This workshop contains 11 video’s and 5 quizzes.  Follow the guidelines provided to ensure that you cover all that is required in this workshop.

The video will help students remember that a flip is a reflection, a slide is a translation, and a turn is a rotation, while also reviewing the concepts of symmetry and dilations, which are used to complete enlargements and reductions of shapes using a fixed center point and a ration called a scale factor.
